Clare Chambers is the founder and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of FE Matters. Prior to this, she designed, taught, assessed and quality assured courses for the likes of Google’s Squared Online certification, the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and several leading apprenticeship providers, in addition to a decade spent in digital marketing and other online business.
An early adopter of remote-first business…
In 2006, Clare found a savvy way to support herself through her final year as a linguistics undergraduate at the University of York by offering freelance copy writing, content marketing and domain & website brokering – long before these industries were mainstream.
Along the way, she founded – and ultimately sold – one of the earliest 100% remote content marketing agencies, learning the many facets and advantages of digital business models along the way.
From digital marketing to further education…
In 2015, Clare segued from marketing into the digital & further education sectors through a series of freelance projects in education marketing and an external examiner role for the Squared Online certification – an industry leading course created in partnership with both Google & the IPA. The following year in 2016, Clare also became a qualified marketing trainer and quality assurance practitioner for a leading apprenticeships provider.
Having discovered the world of debt-free further education or “learning while earning” it became obvious that the stubborn stigma surrounding apprenticeships is inaccurate and outdated; Modern apprenticeships can be viable alternatives to university courses for certain professions – particularly those teaching marketing and other highly employable skills.
“Despite holding more than one traditional higher degree, I would definitely have opted for an apprenticeship degree (or “degreeship” as I call them) had I had the option back then; I wasn’t even made aware of alternatives!” – Clare
